Leverette Weekes Monthly Newsletter - August

Hey There,

I started writing this newsletter during one of my breaks between events on Martha’s Vineyard. I spent the first two weeks of the month connecting with business partners, deepening relationships, and celebrating the leaders working at the intersection of Black business and philanthropy.

In addition to enjoying the annual end of summer festivities, my team and I have supported our clients in amplifying their stories and bringing greater visibility to their mission at our inaugural Momentum Summit on the Vineyard. We were joined by over 100 thought leaders from around the country  for a day of rich dialogue about doing the critical work that uplifts community. The highlight was honoring La June Montgomery Tabron and my mother, Wenda Weekes Moore for their leadership at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

I also spoke at the Cannes Can Diversity Collective event with Sonya Jackson and Dr. Tashion Macon, where we shared our insights into furthering initiatives that promote equity and opportunity. During the discussion I was reminded that, in these challenging times, we need to summon our inner reserves, keep moving forward, and meet the moment.

As we close Black Philanthropy and Black Business Month, I challenge  you to look at the work that is needed in your neighborhood, city, and community, particularly in the area of mentoring, and find a way to contribute.  What you have to offer the next generation is invaluable.

Additionally, I’d love to hear about some of the businesses and organizations you’ve been supporting this month. Let me know!
