A Decade of Purpose: 10 Years of Leverette Weekes
Ten years ago today, I walked away from an executive job at Comcast. My sons were one and three. I was stepping into a family business my parents had built long before I was ready to lead it.
I couldn't map every step. I knew the work mattered, so I took the first one.
Today marks ten years of Leverette Weekes under my leadership. Here is what that decade built, what it taught me about my network, a first look at what's next, and two ways to work with us.

A legacy worth carrying forward
My parents, Cornell Leverette Moore and Wenda Weekes Moore, founded Leverette Weekes in 1973 to open doors for Black professionals in the Twin Cities. Their work reached from the Metrodome to civic buildings across Minneapolis and St. Paul.
In 2016, with their blessing, I rebuilt the firm around what I know best: communications. I wasn't starting from scratch. I was carrying their purpose into new work: helping leaders be seen, trusted, and heard.

What ten years built
Work that matters to the people doing it. We wrote the script, produced the launch, and coached Magic Johnson, Pharrell Williams, and Don and Liz Thompson for the 1954 Project, which has awarded $10 million to Black leaders in education.
Trust from the organizations we serve. "The level of organization and project management is superb," said Jacques Hebert of the McKnight Foundation.
The Momentum Summit, which brought more than 300 leaders to sold- out events on Martha's Vineyard in 2026, 72% of them in senior leadership, with partners including Best Buy, and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.
Getting Unstuck, my book, and the monthly Getting Unstuck circle, where leaders name what isn't working and choose one next step.
A team built on trust. Our subcontractors bring skill and care to every project, and some have been with us for six years.
Four certifications: WBENC and
WOSB (woman-owned), Minnesota Targeted Group Business, and SBA Women-Owned Small Business.

What ten years taught me about my network
For years, I assumed the people around me knew what Leverette Weekes did. Many didn't. They knew me. They knew I left Comcast, wrote a book, and gathered leaders on Martha's Vineyard. Few could have said, "Call Meredith when your CEO has a big speech or a hard announcement."
Our best work has always come through people who knew exactly that. Investing in your network is more than showing up. It's teaching people how you help, and learning how they help, so good work can travel both ways.
So here is how we help. You may know a leader who:
is stepping into a bigger role and needs to lead the room with confidence
has a launch, report, or keynote that has to go right the first time
needs to be heard, consistently, on the issues that matter to their organization
wants to move high-potential leaders forward, together
If someone comes to mind, forward this post to them. An introduction is the best anniversary gift I could receive.
A first look at what's next
To mark ten years, we're making it easier to work with us.
A new website, launching soon, built around one promise: leaders who are seen, trusted, and heard.
Four packages: Executive Visibility, Leadership Presence Coaching, the Getting Unstuck Leadership Circle, and The Moment, for launches and milestones that have to go right. Download the one-pager for a first look, and share it with someone who needs it.
New partnerships. I'm building partnerships that will expand what we can offer leaders. I'll share more soon. Subscribe to the newsletter to hear first.
Momentum Summit 2027, August 10 to 12 on Martha's Vineyard. Partnership opportunities are open.
Thank you
To our clients, partners, subcontractors, and colleagues: you made this decade. Thank you for trusting us with work that matters to you.
Two ways to start
For corporate and executive communications: book a 20-minute fit call. Tell me what's coming up, and I'll tell you honestly whether we're the right partner.
For leaders ready to get unstuck: request an invitation to the Friday Getting Unstuck circle. Seats are free through December; paid programming starts in January.
Email meredith@leveretteweekes.com with "Circle" in the subject line.
Here's to the next ten.
Meredith
